Cadet Flying Courses, Summer 2022

As many cadets are likely already aware CANCDTGEN 015/21 was recently issued (see links above). This order details changes made in relation to upcoming potential cadet flying courses. Historically, the normal sequence of events was that Squadrons each conducted a local ground school. Cadets eligible for either the Glider Pilot Training Course (GPTC) or Power Pilot Training Course (PPTC) would then write an exam. The written exam mark would be factored into the scoring when cadet selections are made regionally.

New this year, cadets WHO ARE ELIGIBLE (see links above) to apply for either GPTC or PPTC may register for the appropriate online ground school. The online ground school consists of 45 hours of asynchronous learning followed by the online written exam. Successful completion of the ground school and exam are prerequisites in order to apply for GPTC/PPTC but do not guarantee that you will be selected to apply. Each year, squadrons get allotments that have yet to be released for this training year. Typically, 862 receives one PPTC and 2 GPTC billets.

If you meet the eligibility criteria for either GPTC or PPTC (see links above) and wish to participate in the online ground school, please email Capt Wakelin at CO@862lambethlightning.ca In the subject line indicate "Online Ground School" followed by "Glider" or "Power". Cadets can only register for one of the courses so choose wisely. The registration deadline is 8 Oct 2021.
